UPDATE: on Derek

Hey guys, so I went and seen Derek today. He is going great. They have transferred him to Patricia Neal Rehabilitation Center in Fort Sanders Hospital. If you don't know, this is a fantastic rehabilitation center. They have told Derek that he will be out in two to three weeks, which is amazing considering like two weeks ago he was still in a hospital bed hooked up to all kinds of tubes and IVs and unable to move very well. Today, he is actually TALKING. His voice is still raspy because his tonsils are still too far apart. Derek is now walking some and pushing himself in a wheelchair. We officially know now that he recognizes people and remembers things. He said that he didn't remember anything that happened at UT hospital. He said the only thing he remembered was my daughter, Lexi, being there and her being kind of scared of him. He even apologized for scaring her. I told him he had nothing to be sorry about. I thought it was really sweet, though. His eye is still a little droopy, and he said that that side of his face is still numb. He also said his legs were numb, as well. I think that it is pretty amazing that he can walk with his legs being numb. I know from experience that when my foot goes to sleep, I definitely can't walk at all. I'm just so amazed at his determination and will power to walk and recover. So, Derek wanted to go outside; my boyfriend and I took out him to this little place for patients. It had kind of a mini basketball court; Derek stood up and shot the basketball. He got it in, too! So, I want to thank everyone who helped me pray for him. Thank you guys so much. The prayers have definitely helped tremendously! In two weeks, Derek has came from being almost in a vegetable state to being fully alert, talking, and able to walk a little. Thank you all so much, again. I'll keep you posted on updates
